Our Mission:
We would like to offer anyone who has Hepatitis C
or B a resource that provides treatment options and information. A resource that
will bring a different point of view on how to approach the treatment of this
condition. We believe we have a formula that has brought down the viral loads* in
people with active hepatitis. We provide herbs, supplements and
consultation. We will try to do whatever we can to help anyone who asks for
it.
*(Viral load is a blood
test used to determine the amount of active virus in the blood. It can be as high as 100
million(+) per ml of blood or be undetectable with the current tests used.)
Welcome-
We are going to assume that you
or someone you know has Hepatitis C or B and are looking for answers. We can tell
you we think we have answers but we do not have a "cure." There is no
cure, yet. What we hope to offer you is a chance to take control of your life as you
attempt to keep this disease under control. Maintaining this control is different
for everyone, since no one has exactly the same set of symptoms or is in the same stage of
the disease.
All the current conventional
approaches hope to do the same, to keep it under control, with a chance of putting
it into remission. The goal is to bring down the viral load down to zero. We feel
that this is possible, but we think we have approaches without the harsh side effects that
many pharmaceutical applications have. We also feel that our formulas and supplements will
compliment whatever you are currently taking. We are not advising you or
anyone else to go off your current medications or not to consider using the approaches
your doctor recommends.
AT NO POINT SHOULD YOU ASSUME ANY
APPROACH YOU MAY TAKE AS A RESULT OF READING THESE PAGES AS A SUBSTITUTE TO THE ADVICE AND
COUNSEL OF A PHYSICIAN.
With that said:
My name is Kirk Moulton. I have
Hepatitis C. I am a nationally board certified acupuncturist with training in
herbology and other aspects of Traditional Chinese Medicine. I am currently working with patients and friends who have Hepatitis C at my
practice in Chicago.
I believe I have brought my viral load
down to where it is undetectable using current blood tests, through the use of
herbs, acupuncture, vitamin supplements, diet, exercise, stress reduction, lifestyle
changes, meditation and prayer. I have no proof of this and never
will. I have no lab tests showing before or after results and for all
I know my viral load could have been undetectable since I contracted this
virus 30 years ago. I doubt it.
Through my own interest in this
disease I have researched various options and concluded that I was going to use an
herbal approach that I found through a fellow herbalist, Alan Tillotson (you will
find our credentials at the bottom of this page).
We have had very few cases where
there has been no effect at all. We have had little side effects to speak of. We do not
have scientific "proof" this formula works, it is all anecdotal starting with my
own story. Some day, possibly with your help, we may get that proof. The
point is, we believe there is a chance that we can help you. Especially if you are willing
to make the necessary changes in your life to make this possible.
Commitment:
Now I must talk about the spirit
that this site is offered in. I want to share the success and blessings that I feel
I have received by discovering this formula, and also the steps I have taken in my life to
keep this disease at bay. It is essential that you understand the commitment it will
take to go this route. We figure it will take at least six months
of taking these herbs to see the results you are hoping for and then you should expect to
stay on them for another year to stay at the hoped for levels.
I would like to do this for
free. However, the herbs are certainly not free to us, nor is the
shipping. I will consult for free as long as I can. If you are under hardship
we will do our best to help you in any way we can. We will refund your money for the
herbs if you decide they are not for you.
This herbal treatment will cost
you $40 a month. There may be additional costs for any supplements you decide you want.
We strongly advice taking at least a multi-vitamin and Bromelain (an enzyme derived
from the pineapple), both of which you can get elsewhere if you want.
We can also offer you many of the other products that are currently being
used such as milk thistle, SAMe, thymus, etc. I will
say that I am very happy with the company we get our products from for both quality and
price. See the herb and supplement and
consultation pages.
The other part of this commitment
is to making the changes necessary to make this work. These changes have to do
with proper diet & lifestyle, stress management,
exercise, examining your work and relationships, watching your emotions and
following a spiritual path. All of which our discussed on other pages in more depth.
I strongly advise that you look at the rest of the pages to understand the
importance of the other applications we suggest (click on the links at the top left of
this page).
Herbs are not like most
pharmaceutical drugs. Many of us feel that if you don't feel different from taking a
drug in an hour or two after ingesting it, it probably isn't going to
work. Herbs are like changing your diet, if you decided to become a
vegetarian you wouldn't expect a quick change. You are altering the biochemistry of
the body very slowly. This is not a quick fix.
If you are currently very
sick from Hepatitis or any other condition, we must decide if this is the right
treatment for you, it might be better to get stabilized first and then think about the
herbs.
We also want to ask for your
participation. If this formula works (or doesn't) as well for you as it
did for myself and others, we want to document it. We hope to derive enough
information so that we will be able to build a clinical trial and publish it. So we
will ask you to monitor your viral load and keep tabs on the progress of the disease.
Trust:
This is the big issue, on both
sides. You are hoping we will have some answers for you and we hope we can deliver
them. Please remember: We are only human.
We need you to join us in the
understanding that we are trying to help you and if things don't go as expected that you
won't try to destroy our lives as a result of your disappointment with progress, side
effects or anything else you are unhappy with. Call us, we will do our best to help
work through any problem you have. We are doing this to try and help you. Please
enter this partnership with the same intent we do, with honor, respect and compassion.
Overview of the disease:
We are going to assume you know
what hepatitis is but here is a brief explanation and some links that we feel will tell
you much more about it and point you to even greater explanations:
Hepatitis C (Greek:
Hepat=Liver, itis= inflammation) is a newly discovered strain that is fairly
common in the United States. It is currently estimated to have infected at
least 4 million in the U.S. and perhaps having been a factor in the death of 100,000
Americans already (mainly in the past decade). Hepatitis C now accounts for an estimated
150,000 newly diagnosed cases of viral hepatitis each year, while many cases continue to
go undiagnosed. Approximately 10,000 people die annually from liver disease that is
attributed to hepatitis C (liver diseases of all types kill about 40,000 people per year
in the U.S. and much of this is now understood to be due to the presence of chronic
viruses). About 1,000 people each year get a live transplant because of cirrhosis caused
by hepatitis C.
The hepatitis C virus was not
detectable until a test for it was developed in 1989. Prior to that, cases of hepatitis
that could neither be explained by the then-known viral strains (A and B), nor as a result
of drug side effects, were described as non-A, non-B hepatitis.
This virus has been spread by
blood transfusions for at least three decades , persisting in the blood supply for several
years after hepatitis B was removed. Hepatitis C is thought to be transmitted almost
solely by direct blood contact. Most of the unexplained cases of hepatitis C transmission
might actually involve some other kind of blood to blood transmission, most
frequently through the sharing of needles among drug users or other forms of skin piercing
with potential transmission through lesions.
Evidence for hepatitis C
infection is not obtained as part of routine medical screening. Even the liver enzyme
tests that would indicate some degree of liver inflammation are still not standard in the
blood count ordered by many physicians during medical visits, so asymptomatic patients may
go undiagnosed for years. While some people experience an acute hepatitis syndrome upon
infection, which might lead one to be tested, that is not the usual situation. If you
believe you have been exposed to the virus or if unexplained symptoms such as fatigue,
flu-like symptoms, jaundice, dark urine, light feces or abdominal pain it would be
advisable to get a blood test. If you have ever had a blood transfusion (especially
before 1992) or used IV drugs you should get a test for hepatitis C.
Some persons with active
hepatitis C show only very mild elevations of liver enzymes, at levels for which doctors
usually dont express concern. In some cases the disease is not detected until there
is need for a liver transplant (a similar situation existed with HIV infection, in which
some individuals were unaware of the infection until experiencing a life-threatening case
of pneumonia or other conditions).
The interval from time of
infection to time of significant liver cirrhosis, if that is to occur at all, is 20 to 30
years. The delayed expression of the disease is one reason why hepatitis C seems to be
such a sudden epidemic; another reason is the recent introduction of testing and the new
awareness by medical doctors of the importance of testing.
Hepatitis B: this type has a more
varied range of expression, including sub clinical carrier state, acute hepatitis, chronic
hepatitis, post-hepatic necrosis, and liver cancer. Hepatitis B is spread , most notably
through infected needles. Medical personnel, especially surgeons, dentists, dialysis
staff and others in contact with blood are at particular risk for accidental transmission.
The incubation time ranges from 4-25 weeks (average is 30 days).
It is marked by symptoms such as jaundice, nausea,
fever, chills, enlarged and or painful liver, vomiting and general
weakness.
As a result of the symptoms,
which typically don't manifest with hepatitis C, the B strain is much easier to diagnose.
This does not mean that it is any less serious or life threatening.
Approximately 90% of people who contract hepatitis B will recover completely and
show negative on their blood
tests.
